March 2023: I am starting a new position as a Student Researcher at Google Research and will be spending the next 6 months in Mountain View.

January 2023: Our paper on diversity-aware active search has been accepted to AISTATS 2023!

December 2022: I’m excited to be at NeurIPS 2022 to present our paper on a novel way of doing local Bayesian optimization, which was selected as an oral!

December 2022: I had an amazing time speaking at this year’s PyData Global on using Bayesian optimization in practice. Most of the content was adopted my book Bayesian Optimization in Action.

November 2022: We released a new preprint on modeling the mixing thermodynamics of high-entropy alloys.

July 2022: I’m very happy to be again selected to receive the Honors distinction from the CSE department at WashU for exemplary Ph.D. research performance.

April 2022: I released the second edition of Advanced Python Programming. Newly added materials include state-of-the-art Python libraries such as Xarray and JAX.

February 2022: We released a new preprint on multi-class active search for diverse discovery tasks. This work develops a machine learning method of uncovering a diverse set of targets among a large pool of unlabeled data.

November 2021: Our paper on using active search to discover photoswitches with high light absorbance was accepted to the Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling!

October 2021: I had an amazing time speaking at this year’s PyData Global on using Bayesian optimization on preference learning with pairwise comparisons.

October 2021: My advisor Roman Garnett released a preliminary draft of his book on Bayesian optimization. It’s a great resource on the topic; plus, the plots are pretty!

July 2021: I was selected to receive the Honors distinction from the CSE department at WashU for exemplary Ph.D. research performance.

July 2021: I had a great time meeting with the students from the BrightPath STEAM Academy and talking about my research on Bayesian machine learning for automating scientific discovery.

May 2021: Our paper on multifidelity active search was accepted to ICML 2021.

March 2021: I passed my Ph.D. oral qualification exam.

December 2020: My first research paper on fair resource allocation was accepted into the Main Track of AAAI 2021.

October 2020: The first ever PyMCon was held and a great success. It was a pleasure chairing the Program Committee.

August 2020: Two books that I was a co-author of, The Statistics and Calculus with Python and The Reinforcement Learning Workshop, have been published.

March 2020: I had a great time meeting our prospective students on visiting day at WashU. Check out our Ph.D. programs in Computer Science and Computational & Data Sciences if you are considering doing a PhD.

March 2020: Another online learning project that I took part in designing just got published: the Python Security Micro Degree from EC-Council. (The prominent Python programming author Cody Jackson was part of the team.)

February 2020: I’m excited to announce that the online course that I’ve been designing for the past couple of months, Deep learning with Google Colab, has recently been published on Udemy.

January 2020: I’m extremely honored to officially start a joint Ph.D. advisorship with Prof. Sanmay Das and Prof. Roman Garnett.

December 2019: I was selected to serve on the Liberman Graduate Center Advisory Committee at WashU.

September 2019: My second book with Packt Publishing, Hands-on Application Development with PyCharm was published.

August 2019: I started my Ph.D. program at the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.

July 2019: I became a three-time recipient of the International Student Scholarship from Sigma Nu National Fraternity’s Educational Foundation.

May 2019: I graduated from DePauw University summa cum laude! Big thanks to my academic advisors, Prof. Khadija Stewart, Prof. Zhixin Wu, and Prof. Alex Puzzo.

April 2019: I was awarded with the Robert J. Thomas Outstanding Computer Science Senior award from DePauw’s Computer Science department.

April 2019: I was selected to be a member of the Indiana Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.

March 2019: My team won first place at St. Mary’s College Annual Data Science Hackathon.

November 2018: I published my first book with Packt Publishing, Mastering Concurrency in Python! Extremely honored to become the publisher’s youngest author.

August 2018: I became President of the DePauw Data Science Group. Excited to get started with planning this year’s events!

July 2018: I completed my summer internship with Micron Technology, Inc. in their R&D department as a Data Analysis Engineering Intern.

April 2018: I am grateful to receive the Wylie Condit Science Scholarship from both the Computer Science and the Mathematics departments at DePauw University.

November 2017: My group and I presented our summer research project at the 2017 Midstates Conference for Undergraduate Research in Computer Science and Mathematics.

April 2017: I came on board as a writer for the Python Software Foundation.
